Violence has become one of the features of the present-day world. Although it has existed throughout times, playing undoubtedly an important role in the development of any society. The analysis of violence is one of the most complicated and controversial issues nowadays, as it may cover different levels of violence – interpersonal, institutional, collective; as well as different forms of violence – racist crime, homophobic or sexist crime, genocide etc. The conference might be an attempt to shed light on arguments about the social construction and nature of violence, applying an interdisciplinary approach to various manifestations of violence.

Conference panels will be related, but not limited, to:

History of violence

Nature of violence

Racist and religious crimes

Homophobic and transphobic crimes

Mass violence and genocide

Sexual violence

Violence on TV, in video games

Violent sports

Addictions, generating violence

Violence in literature

The conference will bring together scholars from different fields including philosophy, psychology, sociology, anthropology, history, literature, linguistics, architecture, geography and others.

The language of the conference is English.
