=== Guest Editors

=== About the Special Issue

Lua is a dynamically typed programming language that provides a good

balance between power and simplicity. Lua is designed as an embeddable

scripting language, such that it can work in conjunction with other

languages and applications. The balance between power and simplicity,

along with its scripting capabilities make Lua an ideal choice for

embedded systems and games. In this special edition call for papers,

we are celebrating 30 years of the Lua Programming Language.

The topics of interest in this special issue on Lua include, but are not restricted to:

. Industrial experiences with Lua (e.g, games, embedded systems, cloud systems).

. Design of libraries or features that integrate closely with Lua (e.g., LPeg, OO systems).

. Languages that are based on or inspired by Lua (e.g., Pallene, Typed Lua, Metalua).

. Semantics of advanced features of Lua (e.g., coroutines, the C API, metaprogramming).

. Implementation techniques of the Lua runtime (e.g., VMs, JITs, GCs).

. Historical perspectives of the impact of Lua.
