AusDM 2018 CALL FOR TUTORIALS

AusDM (Australasian Data Mining Conference, http://ausdm.org/) is a premier Australasian conference that has been at the heart of both practitioners and researchers in data mining community. It is a great opportunity for the people in the field of data mining from Asia-Pacific region as well as other countries to meet, discuss and showcase their state-of-art and innovative work, ideas and activities related to data
mining, data analytics, and applications.
We invite tutorial proposals for AusDM 2018, which will take place at Charles Sturt University’s
Bathurst campus in New South Wales, from Wed 28 November to Friday 30 November, 2018.
We offer a waived registration fee for attendance to one presenter of each accepted tutorial topic.
To increase the exposure of presenters’ work, a two-page extended summary of the accepted
tutorial will be included in the conference proceedings.
The accepted tutorial will be scheduled to present during AusDM 2018 conference as parallel
sessions.
It is mandatory for at least one speaker of each accepted tutorial to attend and present the tutorial
at AusDM 2018 conference. Otherwise, the accepted tutorial will be delisted from the conference
website and the two-page extended summary will be excluded from the conference proceedings.
Guidelines for proposals

The topics of the tutorials are expected to align with those of the main conference and intended to
attract a wide audience in the community of data mining. These topics include related research
fields, applications or developed tools and software suites for data mining or data analytics. The
content of tutorial should be able to provide introductory knowledge but also cover the important
elements of the chosen topic in depth. It should be well-focussed for three-hour or four-hour
presentation.
Your tutorial proposal should contain the following documents. Please zip all the required
documents and email the zip file to both Tutorial Chairs listed at the bottom of this paper.
A PDF file that contain:
*Title, abstract (100 ~ 150 words) and keywords
*The name(s), affiliation(s), email(s), and short bio(s) of presenter(s) including the
research interests and area of expertise and specifying who is planning to attend
and present at the conference
*Justification on the relevance to audience, application and impact
*A list of previous venue(s) or conference(s) and audience size if the same or similar
tutorial has been presented elsewhere
*A description of special technical equipment that the presenter(s) will need to bring
to the conference venue for the presentation. Note that standard equipment such
as projector and computer are provided at the conference venue to support the
presentation.
• A PDF file for the two-page extended summary that describes the content of tutorial with a
maximum of half page key references provided.
• A draft of PPT slides (or in PDF file) that could be covered in three-hour or four-hour
presentation slot.
Review of proposals

The submitted tutorials will be reviewed by the chairs based on the following criteria. The chairs may
also consult the experts or external reviewers on the proposed topic during the review process. All
the submitted tutorials will be scored and ranked. A Maximum of two tutorials will be selected for
presentation at the conference.
Factors to be considered include:
*The amount of the work that the presenters/authors have completed on the topic
*The completeness of the references covered in the tutorial
*The capacity (e.g. experience, background, etc.) of presenters/ authors in delivering of
the proposed tutorial
*The interestingness of the proposed topic to AusDM audience
*The clarity of the tutorial content covered in the two-page extended summary and the
draft slides
*The cohesion of tutorial slides that explain the topic to the AusDM audience
