The Symposium on Engineering Test Harness

co-located with QSIC 2013

29-30 July 2013. Nanjing, China.

SYNOPSIS

Program testing could not be conducted without tangible testing artifacts, and these artifacts should be usable by programmers so that program testing could be meaningfully conducted. At the heart of this dependency chain is the test harness. Test harness is a collection of tightly coupled artifacts, including concrete test data composition, realization of test execution strategies, test result verification, framework extension, and test visualization and management. Engineering effective test harness should address the challenges in handling multiple types of artifacts and their interaction.

The selected papers from the symposium will be invited to be extended to a journal special issue.

The Symposium on Engineering Test Harness (TSE-TH 2013) aims to bring researchers, practitioners, and research students together to present results and exchange ideas about the integration of theory and practice as well as the integration of formal and informal methods toward engineering effective test harness.

A special theme of the symposium is to celebrate the retirement of Prof T.H. Tse. This symposium solicits research results and experience reports that make tributes to the academic contribution of Prof T.H. Tse in the area of software testing.

Authors can use either the double-blind review or the traditional single-blind review. If the authors choose their submissions to follow the double-blind review protocol, before the submission deadline, the authors MUST also send a single-blind version to the managing program co-chair (W.K. Chan) at wkchan@cityu.edu.hk .

Each submission will be reviewed based on the relevance to the scope of the workshop (which is not necessarily related to the special theme of the workshop), correctness, originality, novelty, evaluation, related work, and presentation. All submissions will be subject to a process of rigorous peer review. The acceptance decision will be made by the program committee as a whole. Accepted papers will be published in the Proceedings of QSIC 2013 or Proceedings of QSIC Workshops 2013 by the IEEE Computer Society. Each accepted paper must be presented by one of its co-authors.
