Introduction

============================

With information communication technology advancing at transforming traditional electric power grid into a digital infrastructure with two-way capabilities for communicating information, controlling equipment and energy distribution. The Smart Grid concept arose in response to a combination of external factors that are economic, political, environmental, societal and technical in nature. At the power distribution system level, this concept has motivated the coordination and integration of modern energy, communications, control, and information technologies. However, the downside is that as the grid provides mission-critical services, which need to be secure and reliable. The underlying requirements for a reliable and secure Smart Grid pertain to an adherence

to standards, best practices, as well as a high degree of architectural discipline. This workshop serves to unite common research interests in Smart Grid technologies to discuss and address related security issues, and share novel security solutions.
