MICCAI Workshop on Computational Imaging Biomarkers for Tumors: From Qualitative to Quantitative (CIBT)

Event Dates

Sep 20, 2010 - Sep 20, 2010

Location

Beijing, China

Submission Deadline

Jun 08, 2010

Introduction

Imaging plays an important role in the management of tumors, including lesion detection, quantification and classification, decision-making for treatment planning, and assessment of response to treatment. Mass information is visually presented in images while crucial information for clinical decision-making is expressed by types of imaging biomarkers, which reflect key aspects of the presence and progression of tumors. Validation and standardization of relevant biomarkers is required to 1) guide clinical management for individual patients and 2) coordinate large-scale clinical trials of novel therapeutic agents among multiple centers. For researchers, it is important to not only find the proper association between imaging biomarkers and clinical endpoints, but also extract and quantify imaging biomarkers in an objective, efficient and reliable way.

Aims & Scope

The 1-day workshop aims to report the latest progress and development on computational methods, tools and procedures for the extraction and quantification of imaging biomarkers, with the specific application in tumor management. The scope of the workshop includes, but is not limited to, the following topics:

• Robust 3-D tumor volumetry;

• Imaging-based tumor grading, classification and differentiation;

• Pattern recognition and data mining in the analysis of magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) for tumor;

• Quantitative analysis of FDG-PET/CT for tumor;

• Quantitative analysis of functional MRI (dynamic contrast-enhanced, diffusion/perfusion-weighted) for tumor;

• Matching strategies for multi-modality tumor imaging;

• Validation and clinical application of quantitative imaging biomarkers in tumor management;

• Open medical image databases for validation of imaging biomarkers.

Guidelines for Paper Submission

• 8-page manuscript according to the standard LNCS format specified by Springer;

• All papers are to be reviewed by members of the program committee in a single-blind fashion;

• Duplicate submissions to the main conference of MICCAI are not allowed, but papers not accepted by the main conference can be submitted to CIBT 2010 for review;

• Successful submission will either be presented as oral talk, or during a poster session;

• Details on paper submission are available on the workshop website.

All accepted papers will be included in workshop proceedings to be distributed onsite to registered attendees. The proceedings will also be hosted by an open-access journal. In addition, Springer is considering the possibility of publishing some high-quality papers in a computing application book series.

Important Dates

• Paper submission due – June 8, 2010

• Notification of acceptance – July 13, 2010

• Final camera-ready paper due – Aug 1, 2010

• Workshop to be held – Sept 20, 2010
