The University of Beira Interior welcomes the 8th Annual APEEN Conference on Energy Flexibility for a Just Transition to be held on the 10th and 11th of April 2025. The conference will take place on the Campus of the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences of the University of Beira Interior in the city of Covilhã – Portugal. The conference is organized by the Management and Economics Department, and GAPEER in association with the APEEN.

In the ongoing energy transition, characterized by the electrification of economies and the integration of renewable energy sources – particularly intermittent ones – the concept of energy flexibility has emerged as a cornerstone for achieving a fair and just energy transition. This conference provides a unique platform to explore the dynamics between consumers, producers, market operators, and network agents as they navigate the complexities of accommodating renewable energy sources into the grid and shape the future of energy systems. The conference will consider how to approach consumers’ demand indifference, integrate new technologies, and develop new business models. By focusing on energy flexibility, this conference intends to uncover strategies and policies that enhance the resilience of diversified energy systems while maintaining economic efficiency and promoting a just energy transition that leaves no one behind.
