CALL FOR PAPERS

Mobile Big Data

Nowadays, more than one billion smart phones are in use that are producing vast amount of data. This is bringing profound impact on society and social interaction as well as increasing tremendous opportunities for business. Meanwhile, with the rapid development of the Internet-of-Things (IoT), much more data is automatically generated by millions of machine nodes with growing mobility, e.g., sensors carried by moving objects or vehicles. The volume, velocity, and/or variety of this data is increasing extremely fast, and soon it will become the new norm for enterprise analytics. Therefore, Mobile Big Data (MBD) has been already in our lives and being enriched rapidly.

The mobile big data has to be carefully analysed to achieve interesting and relevant information. It provides unprecedented opportunities for us to understand behaviours and requirements of mobile users, which in turn allow the delivery of intelligence for real-time decision making in various real-world applications. Moreover, the network operators are also likely to benefit from the big mobile data. However, the nature of mobile big data yields many challenges to the data mining, mobile sensing and knowledge discovery, and so on. New data systems and technologies are required to handle mobile big data in a highly scalable, cost-effective, and fault-tolerant fashion.

This special issue covers the most recent research results that address challenges of mobile big data. We solicit papers covering various topics of interest that include, but not limited to the following:

– Novel proposals on architecture and middleware design for mobile big data services

– New big data architectures for mobile application environments

– Data collection models for mobile big data

– IoT (Internet of Things) and (CPS) Cyber-Physical Systems based mobile big data

– Social network analysis in mobile big data

– Spatial analysis and visual analytics in mobile big data

– Data mining and data crowd sourcing for mobile big data

– Mobile cloud computing for big data

– Network optimization based on mobile big data

– Security for mobile big data
