Journal of Real-Time Systems Special Issue: Temperature/Energy Aware Real-Time Systems

Event Dates

Jan 01, 2011 - Mar 01, 2011

Location

Journa of RTS

Submission Deadline

Jul 30, 2010

The special issue will primarily focus on novel theoretical

and/or experience with practical software-level solutions that advance

the research in energy and thermal management of real-time systems.

Soft- and hard-deadline real-time systems will be considered equally for

the special issue. Realistic applications as testbeds are also of particular

interest, examples of which include cyber-physical systems, medical

applications, and sensor networks. Results from real system

implementations will be favored over those from simulation. Of particular

interest are approaches and applications of energy management in

real-time systems to include, but not limited to:

• Energy-aware operating systems for embedded systems

• Energy and thermal-aware techniques for scheduling, memory

management, and quality of service

• Energy reduction in communications over sensor networks

• Cluster-level virtualization, consolidation and load balancing

techniques

• Dynamic frequency and voltage scaling

• Risk mitigation of deadline misses for demand-based strategies

• Techniques for reliability using energy/thermal metrics

• Case studies of energy and thermal management in real systems

Important Dates:

• Paper submission deadline: 30 July 2010

• First Decision: 30 September 2010

• Final Manuscript Deadline: 1 November 2010

• Final Decision: 1 December 2010

• Publication: Early 2011
