Event Dates

Location

Portrush, Northern Ireland, UK

Submission Deadline

Mar 26, 2010

The 2010 Conference of Applied Statistics in Ireland (CASI) will be hosted

by the School of Computing and Information Engineering at the University

of Ulster and will take place in the Ramada Hotel, Portrush from the 16th

to the 18th May, 2010. The conference is organised under the auspices of

the Irish Statistical Association.

CASI brings together theoreticians and practitioners, industrialists and

academics, from the numerous related disciplines involved in the

processing and analysis of data. CASI 2010 will be a single-track

conference starting with a poster session, reception and dinner in the

afternoon and evening of Sunday 16th May and continuing with oral

presentations on the 17th and 18th May. There will be a conference dinner

in the University of Ulster in Coleraine on the Monday evening, with CASI

finishing mid Tuesday afternoon. The conference emphasises both

theoretical research results and practical applications in all areas of

statistics. The programme also includes talks by invited speakers.

We are pleased to announce that CASI 2010 will include keynote talks by:

– Professor George Gettinby, University of Strathclyde

– Professor Paul Harper, Cardiff University

– Rachel Linney, National Council for Curriculum and Assessment, Portlaoise.

– Professor Fionn Murtagh, Royal Holloway, University of London and SFI

These lectures will cover diverse topics ranging from Cataract Surgery to Healthcare Modelling and Pattern Recognition to Statistical Education.

The North West 200 motor bike race is held annually on the North Coast of

Northern Ireland and runs between the towns of Portrush, Portstewart, and

Coleraine. More than 150,000 spectators line the local roads between to

watch the races and the whole week takes on a festival atmosphere with

concerts and other entertainment.

The 2010 date for the North West 200 is 9 May to 16 May so there will be

opportunities to come to CASI a few days early and join in the fun. In any

case it is likely to add to CASI’s usual lively atmosphere. However the

downside is that hotels will be busy and prices will increase so we

encourage you to book as soon as possible and definitely by the end of

March.

The closing date for abstracts is: Friday 26th March
