This workshop aims at giving a cursory look on ideas on several aspects connected with collection and analysis of Big Data, computational aspects in analysis of Big Data in Bioinformatics. It will compile ideas from researchers to share their original research results, practical experiences and thoughts on big data in bioinformatics from different perspectives.
We are interested in panoramic view of data landscape including storage models, data access, computing paradigms, analytics, information sharing and privacy, redesigning mining algorithms, open issues, and future research trends. It is envisaged to additionally offer fertile ground for collaborations among researchers, institutions and industries.
The topics of the workshop include but are not limited to:
Machine learning and AI techniques in high-volume and high velocity biological data
Biomarker discovery from large Omics datasets
Systems biology using next-generation sequencing data
Text mining of medical records or biological text including social media
Structural bioinformatics
Network biology and medicine
In silico modelling of drug discovery using high-throughput molecular connectivity mapping data and Omics data
Scalable algorithms and techniques for Big Data analytics in molecular biology
Statistical and integrative approaches to Big Data biology
High performance computing methods and software for Big Data biology
Software and hardware foundations for managing Big Data in biomedical informatics
Any other topics involving data mining of large-scale biological data
